Recently I was asked by Alex Mason (Alex Mason PR) & Melanie Hill(Gravity PR) who run very well respected Public Relations Company's in Huddersfield if I would kindly undertake a PR Photoshoot for their client Daval Furniture. 

Daval has been nestled in the heart of Slaithwaite in the Yorkshire countryside since 1978 and is still proudly owned and managed by the Bodsworth family that started it. It is a business with a passion for quality, design and functionality at it’s heart.

BRIEF

The brief provided by Alex & Melanie was quite wide ranging and was to involve a full day shoot at not only the companies HQ & manufacturing base but also to encompass some of the local countryside & village area of Slaithwaite. The intention that the images were then to be used across a wide spectrum of publications both offline & online and where to try to get an overall focus for the companies family ownership, its location, the company's advanced high tech manufacturing facility, its large onsite showroom and distribution facilities.

The first half of the shoot basically involved photographing the current family owners and in this case the Bodsworth brothers which; is quite a unique story in it's self, having three brother owners that each specialise in different areas of the business. The brief was to photograph the owners in more natural surroundings rather than have stuffy corporate office shots, so we went for some more "lifestyle outdoor imagery as well as a few within the companies showroom in order to also showcase some examples of Davals fine furniture.

Manufacturing 

Daval really are at the forefront of production & design when it comes to furniture manufacture. Recently they have made significant investment into a new automated production facility at their factory in Slaithwaite and of course this was another area that both the company, advised by Alex & Melanie were eager to shout about. The best way to describe it would be to use words like: Massive, Robotic, Efficient, Accurate and Fast. I was literally amazed by the shear size of their automation and production capacity.
